Hello helpful people! This forum helped me couple of years ago with my first patio project and I can safely say if not for your help, my patio would've been totally ruined by an unexperienced contractor. Now I'm ready for the second part of the project. More slabs, bigger area, more questions, this time - in advance, before starting the work

So, I have already a terrace with silver grey granite,

now need to add some more patio area to it to replace the remaining old slabs. The area is about 40sq m and looks rather long. I'm reluctant to go with the same geometrical pattern as it'll look like council pavement. I also want to use darker shades of stone to contrast with silver grey. In your experience, are there other stones that can go well with the granite or am I stuck with granite-like material? It has to be non-riven though, as will be used by disabled person.

The other question is do you know what these silver stipes are made of/can they be bought or have to be custom made?

I thought if I do have to use darker shades of granites, I can perhaps decorate them a bit with a pattern and silver stripes? It does feel like the area might need a visual breaking with a pattern or something to make it look less like public square.

any advice is much appreciated.

Those silver stripes are probably stainless steel, google for you local 'metal center' or 'steel stockist'.
For ideas, Pinterest, google images, etc. but yes do try to break it up. You could orientate the slabs at a 45 degree angle to those already laid to create even more interest, maybe also a coloured border using block paving.

Not a very good image on my phone ( computer fooked ) but the stripes look like highly polished stone reflecting the colour of the paint on the building ??? Could be wrong.

Thank you, Sean and Lemoncurd! I will check out local metal workshops. If it's a stone, I guess, I'll have little luck to find someone to cut it that thin, so has to be steel then. (I take it, stainless steel won't weather or rust with time) After a lot of (and believe me it was a lot of "lot") googling around, I think, I found something that I like - Kandla Grey sandstone, sawn and honed. I think it'll look good enough with the existing terrace. I will insert some sort of feature pattern (square with contrasting stone or circle or something) in the middle to break it. Unless someone knows the reason to avoid sandstones of that type. (Please speak now or forever hold your peace

Sean could be right about the polished stone. On further inspection looking to the right of the image there is another strip between the paving which doesn't look like steel.
Stainless steel of the right quality is fine, could be issues with the fitting though.

Steel would usually have lugs attached to anchor it to concrete.
