Hi guys,

My slabs have arrived and I've stacked them away safely. Slabs are approx 1 inch thick and it's amazing the colour difference between each side on some of the slabs.

"Wrong side up" on some of the slabs have awesome mixes of colours and to be honest I think look much better.

What's the science behind laying large side up? Can laying the other way cause problems?

Purely out of curiosity....

Why is there such a difference in colour in each side of the slab?

Cheers

sorry i mis-read that :D im not sure the indian sandstone i use are
calibrated so they have all indented lines along the bottom face, i presume it helps the pointing by having the joints wider at the bottom

if the Indian stone has not all been calibrated on a machine then yes the joints are larger at the bottom than the top surface

laying the other way (ie upside down) looks terrible when compared to the best side of the flag

You will find after some weathering that the slabs will have those same beautiful colours.
Please don't lay them upside down, I've seen this done and it looks shite.

you would not believe the amount of arguments I have had with "professional" "being doing it that way all my life" about which way is up.
I have given up fighting with people or it.
