Perhaps one for roger or anyone else who can help.

I am lifting some of the below flags which have only been down a few years. The client has sealed them with thompsons water seal but they look awful as the shiny sealer has scuff marks all over it. The flags themselves are quite a high spec ground finish similar to terrazo.

The customer has no desire to keep them or try and sell them and so is keen for me to take them to re-use if possible. As they are relatively high value its worth my while trying to salvage them.

So my query is how to get the scuffed sealer off and totally stripped as it will be easier for me to do this while they are still down.

Any advice much appreciated

Are you going to clean them while it is still laid or take them away and do them one by one?

i was thinking it would be easier to do them while still laid but am very much open to your advice on the best way. The run off could be managed ok while they are still laid

Before you start on this what finish are the slabs? as there are 2 types on the site you put a link up for. Do you know if the slabs had any sort of sealer applied at any other time?

they are the ground finish, its a similar finish to terrazo.

They do not come with any factory applied sealer so were totally unsealed before the thompsons.

Aqua-Mix sealing & coating remover will remove the Thompsons rubbish. You just need to allow a dwell time of around 20-30 mins, you should be able to pressure wash this off after the dwell time, then give the surface a clean with a ph neutral cleaner, this will also remove any remaining sealer and any AMSC residues.. It might be a bit messy as the Thompsons is a gloried glue. Did a removal on Limestone this year already with this crap on it, and trashed a £80.00 brush for our rotary machine on just over 30 sq mts, the stuff is horrible.
