Hi all. Another day, another query!
I am preparing to slab the inside of our porch (see first pic).
Even though it is a new build, BCO has agreed that we don't need to have level access into the front door. He is happy for us to have a couple of steps from the gravel driveway up to the porch.
I am wondering what options i have reference the finished level of the porch. My thinking:
1. Finish level to be just under the door frame. This would be level with DPC. Is that ok (as the flags will be quite sheltered) providing there's a fall away towards the drive? Or, if i do this, will i need a linear threshold drain as well as a fall?
2. Finish level 2 courses down from the door. This won't bridge the DPC, but will expose the blockwork in the porch wall (photo 2...please don't ask!). Can i do anything about these blocks? Is it do-able to extract them and replace with engineering bricks?
3. Split the difference and finish one course down. DPC should be ok (linear drain req'd?) and blockwork not exposed?
Over to the experts. If it were you, what would you do?
