Hi
I know this same topic has been covered but I feel I am more confused than ever!
We had black limestone put down in May and the contractor did all he was supposed to do. He used an expensive sealant on it (3 coats as it seemed to start fading quickly)
It is now looking dreadful. Lots of efflorescence but the main problem is they are no longer black but grey with some looking milky white.
The contractor has been great and came back today and told us he is upset it has gone that way as it is his reputation on the line.
The supplier of the paving is just fobbing him off saying the limestone always looks better in the brochures as it's photographed when wet! I realise we are not going to get any joy with the supplier.

Should we Remove the sealant with either a pressure washer or a product like LTP grimex and then re seal using Weiss FT PLUS?

without photos it is going to be very difficult (and time consuming) for the professionals to advise on what's wrong or how to fix it. As a non pro it sounds like the sealant has failed, the remedy being to remove and replace, if so people will want to know what sealant it was, how and when it was applied and the environmental conditions before, during and after.

Post some photos & I'll try to help.
What sealer was used (3 coats)?
Do not hit the paving with just a pressure washer though, and hold off with any sealant removers until you have answered the above question.
Sorry to sound harsh but I'm working on a Limestone at the moment that has been f**ked up by the builders, he's acid washed (brick acid) then applied two different sealers which have totally screwed the paving in his panic to hide the original damage caused by the brick acid, gradually getting it back into shape bit by bit.

It was the following. It doesn't actually say sealant but it is supposed to protect from most things which it hasn't. I have ring marks from flower pots etc that have only been on it for a matter of weeks. I've tried again to add photos but can't seem to from my ipad.

Without a photo or 2 to see what has happened difficult to say, but I have just seen the cost of 5lts of the sealer Â£65.00 plus Vat, sorry not one of the expensive ones I'm afraid, so don't know how good this is going to be.

did he seal it very soon after laying the stone?

most on here wont seal for at least 4-6 weeks
