Hi,

I have got to do a bit of paving in front of my house. The area is enclosed by a wall, outbuilding and house. I have just started to lay the paving to see if the pattern looks ok but it has come apparent that the area is not square. (Corners not 90 degrees). The paving I am using is raj indian sandstone in three sizes 600x600, 300x600 and 300x300.

I have a laying pattern but that works only if it is perfectly square. What is the best way to tackle this? Am I best going parallel with one wall and keeping it at 90 degrees but will have to cut the other edge at an angle.

Any tips suggestions welcome

have you started laying?
if so its too late

otherwise consider going diagonal to hide the skew whiff nature of the area

If its way out of square i would start laying along the house wall and keep it straight from there substituting cuts where it starts to run off but this will not work if you have a patio pack with just the required slabs for the pattern.

If its just a little off it will be much more noticeable so like LLL says lay diagonally perhaps.

You eye will naturally pick out thing that are almost right and they will stick out badly.

Thanks for the advice. Have only layed dry so think I will go with the horizontal laying as suggested by LLL.

Paving a yard but not square
