Part of a Limestone restoration we did this week, paving had been sealed twice and both times failed for whatever reason.
We removed the failed sealers, cleaned & re-honed the surface, then sealed. 3 areas were restored around 130 square metres in total.

There are more photos on my Facebook page, if you do have a look please like our site as trying to get a few more "likes" on FB here is our link

Pete,

Still slightly wet, this photo is after the paving had been sealed for around 4 hours.

Cheers Steve,
First photo doesn't really show how bad the previous attempts at sealing this paving was, we are now using a rotary machine on these, brushes or pads depending on what needs to be done.
The stone & the pointing was excellent, just a shame they didn't know how to seal, not one of yours but in our area Chobham.

That's a very nice job. I'm going to be laying two patio's in sagar black limestone over the next month. One of the clients asked me about sealing and I told him you'd get a varnished effect after but it will protect the paving.

TBH I've never been a fan of the look of sealed paving but I like the look of the one you've done very much and will show the client the picture above before he makes his mind up.

Aqua-Mix Enrich & Seal

Thanks for the sealant info. I'm looking to seal my smaller limestone patio and was looking at the recommendations here on pavingexpert.com but the Aqua-mix isn't listed. Any idea how long this will last before needing re-treatment?

My patio is 11 years old and pretty faded. I didn't realise that you could get colour restorer for it so I have cleaned it by hand with a wire brush followed by pressure washing. I'm quite pleased with the results but i don't want to be doing it again. See photo for before and after details:-

Don't want to be to negative here, but I wouldn't seal that patio as it is, from the photo you have in the bottom left hand side very clean & faded paving and the rest is still holding colour ?
Or is this a photo of part cleaned?

Re the Aqua-Mix you won't find it in any of Tony's tests as this is one he hasn't tested, as far as I know, life expectancy of the sealer is around 3-5 years.

If the which sealant question was for me Tony then I'm not sure TBH. I've seen a few examples of sealed block paving that end up looking varnished.

I know it gives the paved area a longer life but I prefer the natural look as long as it's well maintained.

Hi Roger, yes the photo is of the patio part cleaned. I took it to show a friend the difference a good going over with a wire brush makes.

Do you know the coverage rate for Aqua-mix for this type of limestone?

Thanks.

How big is your patio, and I'll work out what you need.
