Hi,
I have within the last 3 days had a new patio installed, it is silver/grey 600x300x20 granite.
My question is when should it be sealed/impregnated? Tony suggests leaving it to settle for a year or at least 6 weeks after installation.
I would appreciate a definite answer to put my mind at rest.
Thanks In Advance

dave as much water as is humanly possible needs to evaporate from the bedding mix and the flags before you touch it with a sealer
granite is so hard anyway that it wont hurt to leave it till we get some really warm weather
others on here will know the best sealant for granite

The honest answer is that it depend what type of sealant you plan to use. The advice given so far is correct, but there are certain types of sealant out there which allow moisture from the bedding layer to escape through the pores of the stone, so in theory they can be used immediately after installation (as long as top surafce of the stone is dry)
Are you sealing for aesthetics or for a practical purpose?
