Hi guys great forum wish I had found it sooner, hope you are all well. I'm Stuart from Edinburgh.
I am laying these flags on an upcoming project
Haus
I am doing a charcoal monobloc soldier course and I was planning to lay them on a screeded bed of 10:1 washed concrete sand and ordinary portland cement.
Will I have to use a white cement is my question.
I was planing to point it all with buff geofix jointing compound.

we do NOT mention the G-word on this forum
for such pale slabs cleanliness is paramount,I have never used white cement so cannot comment
weatherpoint 365 is a step up from the G-word
and at the top end there are proper resin mortars

It's a ten quid fine every time you mention the G-word. Do a search on this forum to see just how many projects have failed because of that rubbish.
LLL reckons Weatherpoint 365 is a "step up from GeoFix". Dried and powdered horse dung is a step up from bloody GeoFix!
The Haus should not be adversely affected by using a 10:1 mix with OPC rather than white cement, but use a moist mix and ensure you keep the work clean.

Ha Ha ha!! Glad I never bought any yet!!!, won't use the g word again.
Thanks for the replys, I will try and get some weather point,
How much would it cost roughly for vdw 850 to do 20m2, 10 mm gaps with 30mm deep.

Cheers LLL I would go for that but my mate won't .
I am looking at weatherpoint 365 and and Jewson want £60 for 15 kg?
Yet some other places have it at £33 per 15 kg but they won't deliver to me.
Is this a mistake somewhere, what do you guys pay.

£30-35 is about right for weatherpoint, £60 is way over

20m² would need less than 50kg to joint. VDW is around 55 quid per pack, so 110 quid plus VAT plus delivery, so around 150 quid.
Bear in mind the pack sizes when comparing the various products. One common 'trick' at the moment is to state the price per pack rather than the price per kg. 35 quid for a pack of SupaJoynt might seem a bargain, but when you realise that it's a 12.5 kg pack and Fab-o-Fill is only charging 50 quid for a 25kg pack, that bargain doesn't seem such good value, does it?
Also, consider just what type of jointing material is being sold. Polymerics are nearly always cheaper, but they don't perform anywhere near as well as the epoxy slurries. Compare like with like: VDW 850 is NOT the same type of product as Weatherpoint 365. VDW850 will cope with regular vehicle traffic; Weatherpoint is a patio-grade product.
