Currently have a tarmac driveway, which is a very 'wishy-washy' shape (i.e. nowhere is flat or level!). So I plan to redo this with a 'flat' area in front of the garage (incorporating a slight fall to allow it to drain). Then an incline between this area and the road.
The flat area will be approximately 5m x 5m, and the inclined section approx 5m x 5m with a gradient of approximately 1 in 5.
My original thought was to block pave the whole area, but now thinking this might not be the best option as would like to be able to jack vehicles (cars) on the flat area with a trolley jack. Are trolley jacks & block paving compatible ?
If not what are my options ..... concrete ... any others ?

(unable to use a board under the trolley jack to help spread the load, as no clearance jack only just fits under as it is)

what sort of car have you got?? a spitfire or summat?
i would get a new jack mate they are about £30 from halfords,no matter what paving you have you do not want point loads on it,if you use a spreader i.e. a 450 length of 8 by 2 any surface should be ok but as block paving is flexible less damage would be done with this

DIY car maintenance isn't a good idea on any drive due to the inevitable drops of oil grease etc that will stain or even damage the surface.

I agree will LLL that block paving is best but surely you could at least slip a sheet of plywood under there to protect it?

...or even a 6mm steel plate!
