Okay I have read the great words of wisdom on the site (many thanks) - is there a school of thought around 'matching' the roof tile to the patio slabs at all?. Slate to slate or something. I am buying a run down house with small clay roof tiles (so weathered reddish colour I guess) with terracotta roof tiles on the garage roof. Is there a pinkish/reddish clayish ? slab or do I just choose concrete that appears to match. Just wondered if people give much thought to this. Much like matching handbags to shoe colour.
Oh and its all a bit damp and soggy round us (well UK is generally).

Any bright ideas of a sartorial nature? :p

Its probably more commonly walls which are used for tone comparison.

On an old listed building it can be important, for example using reddish concrete block paving around a sandstone cottage could look awful, likewise i personally dislike charcoal paving near darker red brick.

Its all opinion though and more to do with major clashes than subtle hues.

Also important is the style, i.e 70's bungalows often look unusual with ultra modern landscaping or very olde worldy random patterns.

Personally I think matching paving with roof tiles is OCD (but that's an opinion) although I have had a customer and friend do this.
I always say go with the colour that pleases you the most as long as it doesn't clash same as R896neo says.
Complimentary rather than matching.
