Am well along in constructing a patio 12 years after we moved in!
Laying is planned for this weekend.

We have not yet decided on jointing method although personally i favour spending the extra and using a modern resin system and hopefully not have to worry about it many years.

My question is really how would i go about using such a system where you open joints at a step nosing e.g. an open end and nothing below to retain the mortar whilst its curing? The overhang will be about 10 to 15mm I guess.
I could fashion a temporary timber soffit but is there a better way or should I just use a wet mortar?

Slabs are 900x600 limestone 25mm thick.

many thanks

Lump of modelling clay or similar, wait for mortar to go off, peel away.

Thanks Guys couple of options. Will probably go with the gaffer tape...at least see how well it will adhere first.

Just need to lay it now...30degrees this weekend!
