We need to compact crushed brick for our 60 m2 patio sub-base (100 mm deep) and also for a 200 m2 ground floor house sub-base which I guess should be 150 mm deep(?) Would the Evolution Hulk 2.4hp Petrol Powered Compaction Plate be good enough to do the job? It has a claimed 10kN compacting force. It's on sale for £250.

This is cheaper than the cost of multiple hires of say a roller or a Belle PCXL 320 whacker from our local tool hire. As a registered charity we have some volunteer labour so making multiple compaction passes would be fine if it will work.

Any advice please?

Hey Dylan, amazing offer :) We're in London NW11 is that possible?

We're not ready for it yet, got to get two steel box frames in and drainage for patio and house, and take out 4 fireplaces - and get the bricks crushed...

i fear dylan is too far away john and the pikeys relieved me of mine
the main thing with a wacker is weight and compaction
it needs to be minimum 65 KG and preferably over 85kg
the big diesel ones exert a lot of force
