We are about to pave a courtyard (about 47m2) which has a mixture of old flint walls and wooden weatherboarded walls surrounding it. I am looking at Bradstone Indian sandstone as a cheaper alternative to York stone, and can't decide which colour to go for. I have a small sample of Heather Ridge and Silver Grey (both riven) but am not able to look at a bigger sample in either colour. The tiny images online aren't much help. The courtyard won't get a lot of sun, so will green up quite quickly. I want it to look sympathetic to the old flint walls that predominate in the surrounding buildings, therefore not too "orange". But does the silver grey look too hard, modern and dark when wet?
Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated! Great website by the way! Thanks...

Raj Green/Blend is the nearest to Genuine York. Think Bradstone call it Autumn Green.

The Kandla Grey (it has a host of other names) is a good neutral colour and should work well with flint, but it's very definitely not York. As Dempsey says, the Raj is probably closest to what people think of as yorkstone, but there is so much choice it's impossible to tell you what would work best.

I'd heartily recommend visiting a local stone yard. You need to see the stone 'in the flesh' and not judge from photies. There's loads of suggestions for possible suppliers here
