would anybody know of a grout to use for an area out side the from door that will have under ground heating (in case of frost during winter). I know this sounds mad, but i am worried that heat will affect the grout.
thanks

A standard 3:1 pointing mortar will be fine just don't turn it on before it's cured. The heat it generates is gentle rather than hot so is very unlikely to cause problems. I've not heard of anyone installing these under flags before what are the manufacturers specifications and will cars be driving on it. What part of Ireland are you in I'm from Belfast and we've yet to have a decent frost this winter.

Heated driveways an expensive luxury but if you live on a hilll and have the cash then they're great. Worked on a couple of houses with them but it's always over asphalt although I've never been involved with it.

seen it in Reykjavik in the sense of geothermal heating under roads
but of course that heat is free to eh Icelanders
with energy costs rising all the time, and Ireland being on the whole a frost free country,it beggars the question
why bother?
LLL ???

An old couple I worked for had a heated driveway that some snake oil salesman sold them in the 60's with the spin that nuclear power would make electricity virtually free in the future.

One born every minute.

Clean a drive for a client that has the underground heating thing. Granite cobbles, he reckons it is so cheap to run, only kicks when needed via temp gauge.

Heating of drives & paths is very cheap to run, no need to clear snow or spread grit/salt when bad weather sets in either. People also use the same systems on their gutters.
