I'm currently trying to win a job, and I'm needing approx 92m2 of a light cream/beige sawn sandtsone, in a single size, say 600x900 or similar and also some smaller units, for copings on a 215mm wide wall, so probably 600x300 or near as, and also some step units. Anyone know of anywhere in the Midlands or as near as possible, as everywher I've tried so far has tried to sting me on the carriage.
The clients want the project, and we've got the job, but I'm looking to shave a bit off the material costs if poss.

bear in mind mick that if stone is used for a coping you need a drip each side underneath it
otherwise it wont do anything
can steve LSP not help you out?

I have contacted London Stone, that's who's samples I've used, but the delivery cost knocks the cost up. We're going to cut our own drips, but I'm just seeing if anyone knows anywhere local. Steve's stone is so far the best price, but you never know, there maybe someone else.

Hi Lads, thanks for the mention Luton

Its the single sizes that can sometimes be a stumbling block

You could give CED a bell.
http://www.ced.ltd.uk/paving/sawn-textured/

they have a large choice and a depot in Notts

All the best

Dan

Cheers Dan, I've tried CED, but the clients didn't like the stone they offered, to Golden. I'm going with London Stone, I've looked at getting a mate into haulage to pick up for us on a return, he'll be empty anyway, and as long as I cover his diesel and give him a drink he's happy. Besides he can crane the stone straight over into the site, unfortunatley the guy's London use, only use pallet trucks, and the guys who drive for them all look on their last legs, where Pallet ways get them from I'm not sure, but we always end up hand balling them off.

your not wrong mick
but in fairness its not just london stone
I have had all sorts delivered by palletline etc
and the drivers are either rude, ignorant, unhelpful or normally all 3

the last delivery we had the fella was actually very helpful so i bunged him a tenner drink
made me chuckle that mick

Last delivery I got from Londonstone the guy was just about crying, it was only 2 full pallets of 3x2s but he was out on his own. They didn't phone me to let me know when he was 30 minutes to 1 hour away so I wasn't on site to help him move the pallets.

We hate using pallet companies. Unfortunately anything north of Oxford and its not viable for us to deliver on our own trucks.

I agree with Mick & Stu, the pallet drivers are generally numpties. They just dont give a shit about getting your delivery to you in one piece, or even getting it there full stop.
