Hi,
I am wishing to point a granite patio. I have laid the stones using SBR and OPC over a dry mix base.

My question is, do I need to use the bonding mix between the slabs so that the pointing mortar bonds to the granite?

I assume if I don't then moisture could get down between the granite surface and the pointing.

I would like to use the easipoint standard mortar and a gun, but can find no stockists locally (joints are 1cm).

Any help gratefully received.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply about easipoint.

However I am still unsure if I need to use a bonding mix (SBR + OPC) for ordinary mortar pointing. The granite slabs have very smooth sides and bases. I had to use the bonding mix for laying as even a wet concrete mix did not adhere to the slabs.

i would not use sbr in pointing as it has a tendency to stain
easipoint can be ordered for next day delivery but you need to be really careful with it
