Paving newbie here, as you'll see :) . I've searched here and on the net, but no joy.

I have a single patio slab on an old patio that has slumped a little and cracked in half. I'd like to dig it out, rebed it and then repoint. The question is, how to fix it?

I know you can get specialised repair products for stone, but would standard epoxy resin be acceptable? If so, is it better to leave a small crack on the surface and finish with a very strong mortar, or is it epoxy all the way?

Thanks.

a picture would be handy here
what kind of slabs are they?
you need to take it out, clean off any mortar
dig out so that you will have 40-60mm bedding then rebed
i think the crack will always be noticeable but post a pic if you can

The slab needs to be replaced surely. Cant see any repair lasting for too long.

Sorry, camera's on the fritz. But it's just a 450x450x~38mm riven flag. No doubt really cheap, but I don't like the idea of putting an odd one in - it'd look better than the rest :) . No problem with the crack being noticeable, but before I bed it I thought I might use something like:

or
just bog standard epoxy resin.

I take it this sort of thing isn't best practice?

Could you not replace it then just cover it in soot or yoghurt or something to age it like the rest of them?
How wide is the crack?
