What quantity of SBR would you use for a 3 to 1 pointing mix of plastering sand/ OPC ? Mix gauge: 50kg sand/ 16kg OPC, if going by instructions it says 10-15ltrs per 50kg cement so I think that works out at a minimum of 3.2 ltrs which just seems too much or is it ?

i wouldnt use SBR in pointing, bit of feb maybe but if the pointing is strong enough no need for SBR

BTW nice website dempsey, some very tidy work on there
another issue with SBR is that even the slightest fail with it leads to staining,i use it in the bedding mix but find easipoint to be the best finish for pointing

And SBR seems to render the mortar a bit naff to use i always find.

Cheers LLL. I was asking as have read quite a few posts on here saying that its better to use sbr rather than feb in pointing mix because its air entraining. Is easypoint/cempoint that much better than 3/1 wet mix sand/cement ? Ive never had any comebacks up to now with 3/1 sand cement bucket gauged but alot of people seem to be switching.

hi easipoint goes of like iron after a few hours . i wouldnt use the natural one as it drys very grey .luckily last time the customer was ok about it .i used a powerfull jetwash the next day on the slabs after using the easipoint . didnt disturb any joints.its all about the price 25 -30 quid a bag . plus 35 for delivery . thats from easipoint themselves up your way or lsp down here.

i have used 2 building sand 1 sharp sand and 1 cement before, and this turned out ok with stone setts. i have a job coming up to repoint some church steps, was going to use easypoint or something alike, but the cost is bib. some of the perp joints are wide so i think i am back to sand and cement. does anyone know any surpliers of easypoint in south cheshire. also i was going to put sbr in the sand and cement pointing job but after reading this i dont think i will bother.

10 bags. How deep was the pointing settlover?
Reason I ask is that 22mm calibrated paving is becoming more popular.

about 40 mm on average depth and 15mm wide on average. it included pointing 9m2 of setts which were 60mm depth and the circle too .
