Hi Can you help please. Have just had a recommended groundwork firm do turf, large rear indian sandstone patio, block drive and some minor exterior buiding work to house. They are just finishing after about 14weeks. The indian sandstone patio has been down and mortered about a week but already noticed about 6 or more of the large slabs moving when walking on the edges. My wife asked how they laid it (hoping not to hear them refer to spot bedding or dabbing) and was relieved to hear them say they laid it on a flat mortar bed (and we know there was mot 1 hardcore they put down underneath that. I mentioned the movement today and they told me that we were not supposed to rock side to side and that the movemnet was normal and would settle down. Is that right to you all because I would expect it to get worse and to spread to other slabs rather than settle down. We want to put garden furniture and a table tennis table on the patio but I suspect this would maeke it worse. Can anyone help please. I am thinking of witholding some paymnet and wait to see if it improves or worsens? thanks
Julian

That is not normal. Slabs aren't supposed to move after they have been laid and pointed.

Get them back to relay them. Watch while they do it to see if they have been spot bedded or lift one yourself to see.
