Been asked to sort out problems with a patio laid 15+ years ago. Some subsidence, prob poor compaction and it's slumped; some, say 1/4 of total loose flags. Been laid on the 5 blob method.
The proper fix is to take it all up and relay properly, but a lot of work = expensive. Easy enough to take up and rebed just the loose flags. And relevel the sunken patch - reckon after 15 years it ain't going to sink any further.
However, the thing that surprised me was that all of the pointing has disappeared; about 60 sq m of 450 x 450 flags.
Repointing therefore big part of the fix; I propose to use Rompox Easy.
Question: will it work if I fill up the inevitable large voids under the flag edges by e.g. brushing in plain jointing sand and then use Rompox to fix the joints themselves? Else I can see large volumes of the expensive polymeric disappearing into the holes.
BTW, if I only relay a 1/4 of the patio I'll not be guaranteeing the other 75%!
