Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to pave over these drain covers, think I might have problems with recessed covers as they are so close together.

Any suggestions?

I take it one is top water the the other a foul drain, if the are separate then you should not cover them over but if they do join together then you could loose one of them

if not then cut the outer flange off the recessed covers where they meet so the covers are touching but still offset from each other like the existing covers are

you can push or pull the recessed covers forward or backwards 50 - 75mm so you don't end up with very thin pieces of flags either outside or inside of the recessed covers, basically making the cover blend into the patio the most pleasing way on the eye

Cut the flanges off and install them sides touching at 45deg to the paving. If the covers are plastic then use a few small screws to hold the 2 together neatly whilst you set them in and pave around them.

I guess???
All I know for sure is that they are unrelated to our property, from the angles the pipes enter into them suggest they are drainage for our neighbours.

If they're not yours then why bother spending any money on them just cover them it's not your problem they shouldn't be there. If they have a blockage or a problem it can be fixed by dynorod from further down the system. Also not having them will look a lot better. Cut the risers down and put the covers making sure there's enough depth for the flag and mortar.

I wouldn't advise paving over them!!

Couple of 300x300 inset covers side by side or one big 600x450.......

do a simple test, get someone to flush a loo and watch if yo see anything, same with a bucket of water in a surface water drain

then you know for sure, i wouldn;t pave over them its always best to preserve them if you can.

get one large recessed tray and cover them both with one?

putting a 300 x 300 square cover on top of a 450 diameter does not work unless you get 100mm wide strips of metal to cover the difference in size all the way round to give the cover support, I did 3 a few weeks ago exactly the same as you suggesting Dave

a 900 x 600 recessed tray is a lot more expensive than 2 450 x 450 square recessed trays

Cover em end of not your problem if they're not yours or get them to pay for them.

Bugger, I didn't realise the chambers were 450's, looked like two 300mm bins until I looked at the nearby shovel!!!!

could be joined by a branch junction along the line. It is bad advice and bad building practice to cover manholes etc: you will have to work around it.

Dont even dream of covering them. Pablo if you have drains running across your property , there is a good chance in the deeds some sort of easment has been given, if you damage or alter them in any way you will be held responsible. Man holes are there for a reason to gain access.
