Hi - new to the forum but have a problem that I need to solve in order to not wind up divorcing my husband. While I was away, he hired a friend to seal the concrete in our driveway. I think this guy thought he was doing us a favor by extending the sealer over to our bluestone patio. The bluestone is now darkened to almost black/gray in some spots while whitened in others. The original blue/gray color is completely gone.
We're in the US - the product used is a Behr sealant that is supposed to be good for concrete and other masonry such as slate. I think the guy thought we had a slate patio, but it's bluestone.
We called the company and they said the white spots could be from applying the sealant in high temperatures, that it could take a full 30 days to cure and that the color will probably return to normal over time. They also said that any of their stripping solutions would be too strong and we should buy "denatured alcohol" to clean it and remove the white spots. Meanwhile, every website I've seen recommends using acetone to remove efllorescence. Except I'm not sure if it is efflorescence.
All suggestions on what to do will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Lori
