Hi Guys

I went to look at a horrendous indian stone patio that some cowboys laid for a old dear a while ago now. Totally uneven and as you can imagine some really bad gaps between the flags and covered in cement.

Anyhow i managed to get the cement stains off the flags a few of which were rocking. We decided lifting and relaying wasnt an option due to the state of them underneath[ the right side] and the lady couldnt afford to buy new again so we decided to fill the gaps with decorative grit instead of pointing as the slightly rocking ones would be ok with this. Anyhow to cut a long story short the client now wants it pointing up, Lifting the rockers digging out rebedding etc is no problem my question is is it possible to point a v shape wide joint with the v the wrong way as it were??

My main concern is that it will crack and come out with natural expansion of the materials etc so any advice gratefully recieved.

If you use a 4:1 mix with either plasticiser or SBR, and mix to a wet but not sloppy slump, it should be OK. Personally, I'd go for one of the resin mortars as they are cleaner, faster and should form a better bond.

Cheers for that Tony thats kind of the lines i was thinking of. I thought of using the resin mortar route but cost is a big factor in this job and some of the joints are 60mm wide!! so over the entire patio thats quite a bit of gear.
