Hello,

I am looking into doing some of my first paving and patio laying in the next few weeks. I wanted to know if it was ok to lay a new slab path, with gravel edge onto an existing tarmac with inset concrete slabs area.

Here is a picture of what I currently have:

Thanks in advance for any help.

In a word - no!

For starters, look at the DPC levels on the building - are those going to be compromised? (Min 150mm from finished level)

I could potentially dig out next to the house, as I am planning a gravel edge next to the house., so this edge would be below the 150mm required. The path would then be slightly raised up above the gravel, on top of the concrete pavers and tarmac.

Still a no?

if you look at your photo the bottom of the air brick is in line with the existing flags, the air brick is 9" x 3" so to pave on top of the existing flags you would block the flow of air into the house

so in a word NO !!
