had the day of today with my little boy walked up to the post office and walked past this, who ever spec'd these flags for pavement use next to a main rd, obviously lots of trucks etc have rum over them.

and the street just off this has original stone paving and one has sunk so they've thrown some cold lay on it

In Highways Inspector mode, that first photie isn't a fail: it's a lovely bit of crazy paving!

Although the flags are broken, there's no obvious trip hazard, so it isn't a priority. You have to bear in mind that, before the 1980s, flags were all we had in modular paving, and it wasn't uncommon to lay 2½ inchers next to the kerb line.

There are many metres of footpaths like that down here Giles!
