Evening.
Gave Ronocrete a call today regarding Ronofix SBR. They suggested going through a supplier to get a price on 25 litres. Did so through Travis Perkinns - I have a trade cash account with them. 2 prices came back - Cementone SBR 25ltr £59.95 ex vat & Rorofix SBR @ £239.00 ex vat. Is this correct? I have used SBR before & now realise its usefulness especially with Indian sandstone.

i use sika sbr or cementone sbr good stuff sika is usually cheaper and i prefer it its stronger ???

ronafix sbr is about £50-60 for 5L
last tub of cementone sbr from travis was £50 odd quid came down a bit with discount

cementone sbr i have used with a modicum of success
about £15 for 5 litres
shop around travis perkins only give discounts to big spenders

Which one is best was going to be my next question. As a solution would 1 part cement to 1 part ronafix painted to underside of wetted slab but not added to bedding mix give a suitable bond? Or brushed onto the underside of the slab & the surface of the bedding layer?

Almost all of the SBR products on sale in the UK come from similar sources - they are supplied in blik at around 56% and are generally just diluted differently and priced according to what the manufacturer can get - branded and non branded - direct or via a Builders Merchant - For any comparison compare the volume solids and the contents i.e. what else is in there as well as the SBR and water to pump up the 'volume' - not all is the same - And the same situation goes for Styrene Acrylates - or vinyls also proposed for the same thing - though not quite so sticky (but may be easier to use / finish?)
All of these 'polymer modifiers' for cement mixes need to be diluted down to around a 20 - 25% solution (so 1: 1 with a good one) and then mixed with cement and sand to function correctly - they do not bond long term on their own. They also do not stop shrinkage in the joints on site or cement staining of the stone - You are probably better off using an slurry SBR mix to help bond and bed the stone into the base BUT then for jointing use a GftK 800 or 850 jointing mortar from www.nccstreetscape.co.uk - No mess, slurry application, self compacting, no mess, no shrinkage, moisture tolerant, permeable and fast curing and non staining - All done standing up too!
