considering having a play with rompox, but wanted to see if anyone here has used it in the past and any views? i notice the lower end stuff is semi permeable but i cant see the advantage of letting it soak in rain water as such. any idea whats in it?

search for it or these a page on the main site about it, i used it twice now on two big 150m+ jobs on prestigious homes and the drain is the mutts nuts, wasn;t that impressed with the rompox terrace(patio) but the drain )(dran) was great.

gtfk is £933 im coming to the conclusion these products are only really viable for the specialist commercial sector rather than general domestic work. imagine adding say £600 to your final quote just for pointing!!

customer he say no....

Met John Stafford from Resiply on a couple of occasions. He is a good bloke who has developed the product from scratch on his own. It is a textbook story of a tradesman identifying something which pissed him off (pointing) and developing from scratch his own solution to the problem (Resiply).

John claims that resiply is better than romex because it contains higher/stronger chemicals.

He did a demonstration on our paving display on some fossil mint sandstone & some tumbled sandstone sets. That was six months ago and its absolutely rock solid as you would expect. The only concern with it and this applies to Romex and to any of the sweep in's is the shine which they leave. Personally i think it detracts from the look of the stone. That's not intended to be any kind of dig, its just my own opinion and it applies to all those types of products.

I know that Romex have a masssive range of products and I am no expert on these but I believe that the two part product supplied by Resiply is at least equal to the Romex equivalent.

Hi there
- A warning to beware of all these price per pack comparisons - For example the GftK products from www.nccstreetscape.co.uk (speak to Gary or David) are in 25Kg units and not the 15Kg or 20KGs of the others.

Also there is a big difference in the type of epoxy resin used - water dispersed (best for slurry application and water displacement) or solvent-free (less moisture tolerant). The fillers are also different - - ordinary or 'graded' sand (what sand isn't graded?), or reduced fines, resin coated sand to ensure no dust, easy mixing and full self compaction in application - followed by permeability in place - Such are the constituents of the GftK Mortars - A big application and performance advantage on site - Suggest you check prices with gary or David as these sound out of whak for this sort of area and size of joint. Hope this helps.

Resiply is in 25 kg bags which will cover 12.5m2 , the sand must be 16 : 30 which has no fines to enable the resin to cover each sand granule and create the overall strength.

Hi there - suggest you try a unit of each back to back - GftK vs Romex, Easipoint, Instarmac, or any other small local manufacturers epoxy paving mortars - we do this regularly and the difference between 'the same materials' is actually chalk and cheese - in application, yield and performance - however the prices are indeed often equivalent for commercial quantities - though always slightly cheaper if such normal 'graded dried sand' is used - but this plays a big part in the mixing, application and performance characteristics as I said - Try it!

Or have a word with Gary or David on 01257 266696 and they will be pleased to arrange such a clear demonstration for you or any other Paving Specialist

anyone would think you worked for NCC streetscape davesmate :;):
as a builder who uses products, there is a fine balance between price and quality
we want the best quality materials but I wont pay double the price for something that is only 5% better
we would all like the finest of everything, but we would never get any jobs that way

LLG - we work for a lot of people and only say what we see!
Fully understand the cost of materials and cost of the job relationship - plus the 5% more or 50% more analogies - As i said - try it back to back - or talk to them and see what they do for you!
