looking for a dozen 900x600x50 council grey slabs, the older and more weathered the better. I'm in Camberwell SE london and tried a few local salvage yards with no success - any bright ideas for possible leads from the experts?
many thanks A

900 by 600 is a new size
3' by 2' is the old size and they are different believe me
our local merchant sells both sizes new but not many people keep old council slabs, they normally get smashed up for hardcore or crazy paving

My old ones (1970s vintage) really are 900x600, honest! measured very carefully. Definitely don't want the bigger 2x3s as they would be 10-15mm too big all round. I know both the metric and imperial sizes are readily available everywhere brand new but i need some weathered ones to match the old.
Any local leads gratefully followed!
many thanks

i will check my stock for you. we keep any old slabs when taking them up for this very reason. give me a few days till i get to the yard next. im at gatwick so not too far away, and you can have them for free.

That's very kind of you! if you do have any - or get any in in the near future we'd be very grateful indeed and happy to pay - in beer perhaps!?
many thanks A

just have a drive round and look for a road scheme going on .there will be a few in your area .ask the lads .its riney, conways or ringway jacobs who work in your area.stop and ask .u will probably pay around the pound mark for each one
