did our patio last year. Slate with rompox easy pointing. Instructions stated that you can simply brush in and no need to actually point. Well 12 months on and it looks awful. Dirt has got down into the rompox and it obviously wont come out.
I am thinking of just hacking it all out. What would you guys suggest?

pressure wash it first
mine goes dirty every year but a decent pressure washer brings it up like new

tried that. Its like the dirt has managed to work its way into the mortar.

dirt cant normally mix with epoxy pointing was it mixed to the spec on the tin normal pressure washing should clean it :;):

Cookie because of the porous nature of the pedestrian grade products dirty water stains the pointing from the inside out and it's impossible to clean and the joint ends up looking a muddy texture and colour. Also because it's porous algae forms from the inside these problems will be what Stephen is talking about and unfortunately there is no solution. If I ever use it I do it like normal mortar and push it in and strike it up with an iron which deafeats the purpose really as mortar is a lot cheaper.

its one of those product that look great for 6 months then shite
roger from R and A pressure washing normally does mine and it comes up like new,but thats with a pro rotary pressure washer

I seem to remember you saying when you did it that you pushed it in and struck it up LLL that'll be why it cleans up nicely. The extra time taken is paying off for you now.

thing is the instructions state that you just brush in, without having to strike it. I am tempted to contact them and complain really.

not really
a grinder, then a plugging chisel, then a hoover,
have you tried jetwashing it?

yep, not only has it loosened some of the pointing, it aint clean at all.
