Tony has talked on this site about using an SBR slurry to butter the underside of Granite/Slate slabs as a working solution instead of PVA.

I have come across this product which is a tanking slurry:-

The question I have for those of you in the know is:-

Can I use this product instead? The attraction for me is the fact I can mix up whatever amount I need easily by just adding water without having to measure SBR and cement.

Or am I heading for a nasty schoolboy error?

That's a tanking slurry whereas a bond bridge is an adhesion slurry.

To be honest, it doesn't get much easier than SBR and cement. If you want an eggcupful, you use one egg cup of SBR and enough cement to achieve the desired consistency; if you want a bucketful, same principle!

There's an expression we've used for years to describe how well Ronafix and cement sticks to bricks, blocks, concrete, render...."sticks like sh*t to a blanket".

And it does.

Unlike PVA, Ronafix with cement is waterproof and frostproof and wont break down through occassional or continued exposure to water.

Tony's spot on with his 1:1 mix ratio of Ronafix (SBR) to cement.

A word of caution. Make sure you get the Ronafix:cement slurry on the right surface, otherwise you're in danger of staining and spoiling the "on show" surface.
