This site is fantastic and has been invaluable as I have tackled my biggest project to date, my front garden. I have found many of the answers to questions I've had along the way by reading Tony's excellent pages or reading old posts - but despite reading all of Tony's info on sealants I still am no further forward in making a decision for which to go with.

I am now nearing the stage for sealing my path and hope someone can help. I have used Stoneflair Stonewood Sleepers

http://www.stoneflair.com/stonefl....ge.aspx

and am not sure of the best sealant. I have taken on board the advice re getting it right and not just nipping to the local shed and picking up a jack of all....:D

So at first I thought these would be classed as pic but now I understand what pic is, so I gather not. So, are they cast concrete flags or pressed concrete flags or something else? ???

I would really appreciate some help guys, thanks

They are cast concrete, so now you need to decide whether you want a gloss finish, a matt finish, or an invisible sealant.

Thanks for your help with this Tony!

When they are wet they look great, very authentic wood effect. When dry I feel they look like cast concrete! However, I note your reference to "the full horror wet look!" and it's frightened me!

Would a matt sealant achieve a wet look (ie darken from a pale brown to a dark brown) effect but without a glossy finish that wood just wouldn't have. I think to go with invisible would not have them looking their best.

Advice much appreciated
Jo

You could try "Ultra" from Advanced Sealants. I've been playing with it on various substrates and I find it gives a nice balance of looking damp without looking too shiny

Is that Advanced Sealants in Salisbury? I can find contact details online but not a website.

Or from your links Advanced Sealing Solutions do an UltraHD

The latter - hardly the most original name for a company, but the products are good. They're based in Bolton
