Might be an idea to give a hint about your location, Rich, just in case anyone from Unst was thinking about taking them!

How did you manage to cock-up to that extent? What were you laying?

It took two months of back and forth to get the bloody stuff so there was no way I was going to under-order. Three-size Stonemarket slate packs. I thought 6m a tin, Ray thought 7. Turned out it was 11m/tin.

I'm in Oxfordshire.

Pablo: Yes! But I don't mind. Given that I practically had to put a gun to their heads to get the order completed and shipped I would have committed hari kari if I'd been a tin short

just did a 23 m injun patio
thought 3 tins or romex patio would do it,was 1 lineal metre of jointing compound short!!!

the exchange rate has ramped the cost right up,its around £60 a tin now including carriage,IMO still a great product though

i have one tin and one bag of sand left from my last job, but estimated to use it for copings as well but just pointed them.

put had to go back as 4 of the 300x300 flags out of 150m2 where rocking. so will get used on this.

always better to have more than not enough.

i dislike those small units gilesthey always seem slightly oversize or our of square,plus the injuns always put too many in their patio packs, i have about 15 m of leftovers,was thinking of doing a path at my allotment with them,bit of a patchwork job

We used the 300x300 slabs for the risers for the many steps on this job and we still ended up with a couple of dozen over. Sodding things, if a slab is going to pop, it'll be one of those. Pass the PVA, old chap

yeah they are a pain, but i needed them to make the pattern work. we used them on 90 degree corners on walls with a 600x300 coping looking nice to get the lines going both ways. yeah i've learnt that now sbr those little bliters down.

plus next patio i do on a busy site with painters, kitchen fitters, plumbers and floor fitters walking all over newly laid flags i'm going to get the electric fence from home and that'll stop them. apparently scaffold planks on trellis accross the front of the patio means its ok to walk on it, or in the case of painters erect alloy scaffold. numpties

what is it that attracts people with paint or plaster on their shoes onto freshly laid clean patios ,i will never know

To joint 17.8m² requires 45kg resin mortar or 55kg cement mortar, excl. wastage

So: 45kg ÷ 18m² = 2.5kg/m²

sadly, i would rather buy another tin than add any cheaper ingredients to the joints
it shoulda been 3 tins + sand but was 2 trowelfulls short
