Hi, I'm going to be paving a slab circle in my garden and at the moment the area which it will go on is half of what used to be a shed base and then half of what used to be turf. This second half is at a lower level to the concrete.
After reading the site I think that I need to put in a sub base over the soiled area but I'm not sure what to do with the concrete bit - can I clean this up and then put the slabs on to this?
As the sub base will only be going around the line of the circle what should I do for the corners to stop it falling away? Or once the sub base is compacted should it not move? You can see the rough size of the circle drawn in chalk on the concrete in the pic below.

Also what mix would you recommend?

Cheers!

it will probably be easier to dig out and lay some concrete on the non-concreted side, let that go off ,then lay the slabs on top on a full mortar bed
cheers LLL :)

Ditto to LLL - is that the new shed on left? - you can never have too many sheds....

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess that this little project will take a bit longer now but I do want to get it right so it has to be done.

That is indeed the new shed, only 7x5 but the old one was basically an old forge measuring 5.4m x 2.5m with a very leaky roof and it turns out way only really held together by ivy.
