Setts against woodwork

I`m 1 day into my back garden paving project, 2 ring circle, 25m2 of indian sandstone and bodered with 240 100x100 setts. I`ve studied this website hard and hope to post some pictures when i`ve finished.

My Problem:-

Part of the patio runs parrellel to a large decking area and the paving will be butt up to the wooden fascias on the outside of the decking, i`d like to patio ringed in setts so about 3 meters of the setts would be against the decking. If i leave a 10 mm pointing gap the morter will crack away from the wood and look untidy.
I was thinking of maybe sanding the joint at the back of the sett against the decking. Just after some ideas.....?

You'll have to rely on the bedding to hold the setts in place where they abut the <spit> decking, so use a wet mix, and think about adding a dash of SBR to improve the bond strength between bed and paving.

Once that's done, you can fill the "joint" between stone and timber with sand, as using any rigid material would result in cracking as the wood swells and shrinks with moisture content and temperature.

Or you could take the fascia board off lay the setts then rip the board to size so that it sits slightly above the setts. Make sure you place the ripped side facing upwards so the lip hides it. Or put the setts tight to the wood it should look fine choose them well so they are a close fit with the wood.

Now i`m into the project i`ve had to change my original drainage fall plans. I'm now going to have to use linear drain channels all along this edge to carry to water off the patio. The setts will now butt up against the drain channel, i'm hopeing this will look better.
