Repair to tarmac drive

Hello,

I have a fair sized area of red tarmac in front of my garage, two small areas (12" x 6" x 1/2" deep) where I turn to get in the garage are starting to break up.

Is there anything I can put on these areas to stop further break up?

How long ago was it laid? What material is it? Thicknesses?

Scattering some bit-grit on the affected areas will provide some 'slip' bit it will only be an interim measure plus it will look ugly.

Are you in the habit of spinning the steering wheel whilst stationary, on the spot?

I'll agree with the power steering bit, wide wheels, with grippy, low profile tyres make it even worse.

The drive was laid about 10 years ago, the contractors dug out to about 12" laid hardcore and then put the red tarmac on top. Sorry, don't know the type.

Not in the habit of spinning the wheels, got out of that years ago. It's just where I turn to get in the garage.

Someone mentioned using a resin binder, but I can't find a reference to it on here or on Google.

I see you mention 1/2" deep - does that refer to the depth of the damage or the thickness of the red wearing course?

The 1/2" is just the depth of the damage.
