Geo-fix - Poor jointing

I had a patio laid about 3 years ago with Wentworth Yorkstone slabs from Wickes and the contractor used Geo-Fix for the jointing. Within 12 months the jointing was crumbling away - you could actually press it with your thumb and it would simply disintegrate. The contractors came back, cleaned out the existing jointing and refilled, again with Geo-Fix. Regretably, the same thing has happened again! I would attach some photos if I could work out how (can you help with this pls?).
A few things I have noticed with Geo-Fix are as follows:-
1. A crust seems to form on the top of the jointing but any sweeping simply brushes it away.
2. It never seems to be completely hard and dry.
3. A fair amount of moss is attracted to the joints.

The original and first replacement work was covered by insurance but as some time has now elapsed since the original work the insurers (who employed the contractors) are not admitting to any liability now.

Can you offer any advice on the Geo-Fix product please and it's suitability?

A quick search of this site will reveal what the professionals and diy'ers here think of this product. The symptoms you have described are absolutely typical. The only remedy is to take it out (very easy) and replace it with something that will work; see the pages on pointing and jointing on the main site for more detail.

The good news is that even if you can't get the insurance company to stump up (the problem being to prove that Geofix isn't fit for purpose) then the cost of getting someone in to re-point it with mortar should not break the bank.

Wouldn't Romex be the way to go?

geofix = total rubbish

however in the contractors defence a lot of builders,my self included were given a load of spiel about how good it is

it aint,romex gftk or plain old mortar are the way forward

I had the same question on this site and decided geofix wasn't for me after the replies. As I had spent a lot of time and effort on my patio using a cheaper/quicker product would have been a pointless exercise. I decided to use Easypoint Standard http://www.easipoint.co.uk/ and found it pretty easy to gun in to the joints. In theory it should last years and the company is more than helpful.
