I have had a patio laid of Stonemarket Advant Garde Sandstone Ebony and Caremel and am thinking of applying a sealer to stop staining, have looked at the advice given on site and believe Lithofin Colour Enhancer would be the best product as i like the look of the stones when wet.

Can anyone please advice if this is the best product for sandstone and does the sealer make the stones look as wet The area i have is approx 60sq mtrs how much would i need and do you need to give more than one coat. If anyone has some photos of patio sealed with this product do you have any before and after pictures.

Have tried to attach some photos of patio but am struggling to do so

Thanks

IMO, Lithofin StainStop is the best sealant for patio grade sandstone. If you combine it with the Colour Impregnator, you can develop a damp-to-wet look, if that's what you want.

However, the effectiveness of any sealant/impregnator will vary from stone to stone, so the only way to be sure that you achieve the effect you desire is to do a trial on a discreet corner or spare piece of stone. I have before-and-after images but they don't feature the stone you have, and they have only one application of the Colour Impregnator, so are irrelevant to your project.

Tony,

Thanks for your reply could you tell me, is it best to apply the Lithofin stain stop then colour enhancer, or use the plus which i think has both in.

Also if i only used the stain stop would this stop the slabs from looking wet when it rains

Thanks

If you want to use the impregnator, it MUST be applied before the sealant.

StainStop-only does keep the flags dry looking at first, but this seems to lessen over time as the hydrophobic potential of the sealant is reduced by wear and weathering.
