I am about to lay a new slate flag path. The flags are fairly thick (about 35-50mm each). I want to lay decorative gravel between the flags. The flags are 600x300 so I will have a flag, then 300mm of gravel, then another flag etc. What is the best bedding to lay these on given they will have gravel stones between them?

Please help! :D

Make a mortar mix per the main site. As the slabs are 'free' they will need to be haunched all round. How will you retain the gravel at the free edges?

I have already installed concrete edging, bedded into concrete, So, I do a dry-mix? or wet mix ? and am I right I should come out from each flag by 4-5 inches with the mortar and then spread the stones onto that while it is still wet, tamp them down and then fill in the gaps?

Thx for the reply btw!
