Hi

Going to lay a new patio - removed old grey concrete slabs and want to replace but not sure the difference between the Stone and manufactured slab - obviously price seems to show that stone is best but also want to put down on sand base, can we put stone down on sand base? Do not want to cement down and hope to use 600x600 slabs.

Any advice?

Ta

Stone flags are the real thing - quarried etc.
Manufactured are just that - made from concrete in moulds.
You really must read the main site on laying flags - it takes you in easy to understand stages from A to B.
... and just laying on sand is hopeless.
All the best.

you can lay 3 by 2 "council "slabs on a grit sand base but thats about it
when the ants start tunnelling the paving starts moving,if you get my drift
