Hello folks,I'm a new member,a DIY'er(covers ears to blank out groans) and I've found this site to be invaluable during the laying of my first patio & path.(50sqm Indian sandstone. The wealth of advice on here has helped me avoid many pitfalls, and now I need some help to find a supplier of Rompox (lovely name!)Easy,(for the terminally lazy) preferably in the South East.I've tried the e-mail link on the Romex page on this site, but they (Mcgonagle)haven't even read it after a week(read reciept tool). Can anyone help?Cheers.

I'm not a 100% but i think there is a supplier in Southampton, the dialing code for Southampton is 023 (I find this helps when using the old t'internet). Others may be able to offer better.

What a shame such a good product is such a bastard to get hold of.

You'd be right to at least expect a reply from the makers.

We have a Romex stockist here in Bracknell. It is Stoneworld at Moss End Garden Centre in Warfield. There is a wicked pub opposite called the Shepherd's House that does a mean steak too iif its a bit of a drive for you. I recommend you phone them first as their office can be a bit hit and miss. I also have the details here for the South East area rep and if you PM me an e-mail address I will pop them over to you.

The sand you need to mix with the easy is also hard to track down around here. If you let me know where you are I will let you know the nearest decent supplier.

I'm not sure if I have posted about this already, so if you've heard this before, I apologise.

The official distributor appointed a manager to oversee distribution and sales in Britain. A telephone number was set up, a new bunch of stockists was organised, a big splash at a major trade event was planned...and then he quit. Completely out of the blue, with no warning, he informed his employer that he couldn't do the job any longer.

So: the situation is back where we were before Christmas, with the bloke responsible for sales in Ireland trying to look after his own customers AND offer as much support and service as possible to British customers, which, to be honest, is not very much.

A new sales manager is being actively sought. I know this because they've asked me to help them find someone suitable and RELIABLE. However, good sales managers in the construction products industry are a much sought-after commodity and they are usually poached from another job rather than found lurking on a street corner waiting for an opportunity to come their way.

It's disappointing because it's a damned good product, but the advantage it had in being the first reliable epoxy polymeric has been squandered and the competitor products are now helping themselves to market share that was Romex's for the taking, if only they'd got the sales and distribution nailed down three years ago when they had it all to themselves.

The details for Stoneworld at Moss End are: -

Whatever your stone needs contact us on 01344 425300 or email us on rafal@stoneworld.co.uk or visit or website at www.stoneworld.co.uk. Open 7 days a week, Monday - Saturday 9.00-5.00 and Sunday 10.30-4.00.

I will give them a call on Monday and see whether they can let me have details of the area sales manager for Kent for you

Hope that helps a bit - it is a crying shame they can't seem to sort their act out

In kent: I think Rock Unique in 7oaks may still stock Rompox Easy and Rompox D1. I know they used to do, but then they got fed up with distribution and supply problems and gave up, but in a dark corner of my murky mind, I seem to recall Chris saying they'd started stocking it again due to customer demand.

Hi all

I have also now had enough of the Romex supply chain (Lily makes better daisy chains).

We have NCC Streetscape coming to see us tomorrow with their jointing products although it would be fair to say it is already a done deal.

They do not have the supply issues of Romex and they couldn't be more accommodating. And if they are good enough for the gaffer (Tony McC that is) they are good enough for us.

Contact details are available on the main site I think but our contact there is David Mackay on david DOT mackay AT nccinaction DOT co DOT uk and 01257 266696. Remember to tell him Tony sent you!

I will report back about the Landscapex exhibition tomorrow but I think our eggs are definitely going in the NCC basket!

We have just placed our order for a pallet of the 840 polymeric sand. We will be using it on Friday and I will be putting piccies of the finished article on our blog site. The stuff looks bloody great and we can't wait to have a setts installation to try the pavement mortars out. Dave and Gary are absolute stars and nothing is too much trouble! I recommend that you all give them a call as the price beats Romex too!
