Hi All,

I'm in the process of laying a 45 sq m indian flag pation and path. I started buttering the slabs and have about 1/3 laid. And then I started looking at coloured pointing!

I tried and tried to find rompox but even mailing romex in Germany (in my aged and dodgy german!) got no reply. And then i saw Pave Fix by Sika which looks similar and comes in gray. This is still proving an arse to get but at least i live near the factory and can stalk them!

So, some of the gaps between my joints are not 25mm deep - ho big an issue is this? I am mainly interested in the pointing to make it look attractive as the slabs are well set.... but dfoes it need an inch for some reason?

Anyone know where i can find Pave Fix in gray??

Should i just give in and used coloured mortar....?

Any and all help appreciated!

Simon

Pave fix is a sub standard product of the same quality as geofix. Don't use it. If you do use it you will be repointing it with mortar next year at the latest it's that rubbish. Rompox can be a mare to get but if you can't then try GFTK or GTFK I always get them mixed up but it's just as good as Rompox.

Thanks Guys. I'm happy to hear it's pants and stay clear of it. So, Gftk - where can i pick that up from then?? :)

And the question aout joint depth is still interesting - with Gftk do i have to have that 25mm depth?

i would use easipoint.

Its basically a mortar that you mix up, and squirt into the joints using a pointing gun. they do 10 standard colours, and can even match an exact colour if you wish

Try www.easipoint.co.uk

one of their friendly reps came out to my site with a bag and we tried it out to see if i was happy.
I have never looked back since!

The odd joint not being deep enough won't matter if you wish then take a grinder to it to make it deeper.
