I'm considering buying a couple of patio packs from these people. (perhaps http://www.simplypaving.com/view....10) They seem reasonably priced and helpful on the phone. Anyone got experience and willing to proffer an opinion?
Cheers
Dave

They are run by Philip (Peter?) Marshall, the ex-chief exec of er.... Marshalls! They seem to want to retail direct to joe public and the product/pricing system is easy to follow for that reason. The prices are not outrageous (allthough my local stoneyard is considerably cheaper) and the products are good. I've had a little dealing with them and found their customer service friendly and helpful.

Basically, they are a direct sales outfit backed by Aggregate Industries, who own Charcon, Bradstone, StoneFlair, etc. I've been to a couple of their sales centres and have not been impressed. There's an air of "pile-em-high-sell-em-cheap" about it all.

Funnily enough, I've never had so much as a compliments slip from Simply Paving, so I have to rely on my own perceptions, which tell me that they are serving the budget end of the market and some of their products are desperate. The stone is, by and large, fair to middling. It's not the best quality stuff, but for anyone working on a budget, it should be OK.

I've not seen anything to persuade me to use them or recommend them as a preferred supplier for the projects in which I'm involved.

Since I'm working on a budget and short of time to go round stone yards I decided to use these guys. I ordered a couple of patio packs a dozen extra 900 x 600s for my steps.
Simply Paving seem to have a problem communicating with their delivery team. They promised Friday delivery, and I explained exactly how narrow our road is, so they said no problem, they'll send a small truck. They turned up on time with a 3 axle job that would no way fit down the road. SP then said they'd deliver the next day (Saturday), but had a dispute with the drivers about how many 7.5 tonners it takes to carry 2 palletts of stones. In the end we didn't get the Saturday delivery, and had to wait till Tuesday - and they sent it on 2 trucks.
So logistics no so good, but stones look fine - Stone Flair sandstone. There's rather a lot of colour variance between the 2 packs, but I guess that's what you get for ordering on line and not seeing them first.
Anyway, I'm happy enough with them in theory - now down to the business of laying the things...
