I am a complete novice to this. I have read the website advice. The following is what i think I should do. Lay a sub bed of 100mm hardcore and 100mm of bedding layer and lay flags on this. The bedding layer should be a mixture of sand and mortar (not building sand). In laying the flays can i have them join one another or should i leave a gap of say 3mm for pointing

Thanks for any advice.

Your bedding layer should be be between 35 to 50mm, no more. Indian flags are riven so cant be butt jointed. A 10mm pointing gap would be more appropriate.
