I have a small area to patio at the rear of my garden. There was originally a garage there which I have knocked down, however the base of the garage has been retained. Its about 10inches of solid poured concrete. I want to pave on top of this and am a novice ! What is the best way to prepare the existing concrete, taking it up isnt really an option. Thanks

At the top of this page is a link to the "Main Website"

There is a whole section there that will answer your question in detail.

if the slab is in good condition and has no cracks you could lay the flags using a wet mortar ,not recommended but i can see where you are coming from
LLL :)
