I am a complete novice at laying flags and have embarked upon a 52 sq metre patio with Indian Sandstone flags in Fossil Mint. My brother in law sorted my sub base and a screed bed of sharp sand. I have been laying the flags with a 10:1 dry mix as reccommended on the site. The problem is I am really slow and I have laid some of the flags - without buttering as I am going to use a dry mix for grouting - but not got round to the grouting and weve had quite a lot of rain. A number of the flags still haven't dried out and weve had no rain for three days. I lifted one of them up and noticed the sharp sand underneath was quite wet. Will they dry out eventually or will I have to start again? By the way, I bought a rubber mallet and with the help of this great site I think Ive got the hang of it - I'm just worried about these few flags that wont dry out.
Can anyone please give me some advice.
Many Thanks - Chunga

I lifted one of them up

did it come up easy?
TBH a sub base of sharp sand is NOT a sub base, should have been MOT type 1

Thanks LLL

Theres a hard core base and about 50mm of sharp sand. It did come up easy because for the original few flags I only used sand for bedding. I am now using the 10:1 mix.
Should I grout what I've done before I go any further.
Thanks for your help.
