Just had nerw patio laid (Indian Sandstone, and lovely!) Had an oak pergola installed at the same time and the preservative is bleeding out in the rain and staining the slabs. Anything I can do or will it wash away after time?

Go back to your contractor. They should know what was used to stain/treat the pergola and therefopre what is needed to clean up THEIR mess.

lithofin do a fine range of cleaning and sealing products for natural stone, not cheap but high quality kit
i wonder if the oak pergola began life as railway sleepers by any chance? i have 3 8 foot oak beams in my back garden at the moment (reclaimed) and the more i look at them the more i think that they were once sleepers but have been shotblasted to look rustic
but getting to the point, a lot of sleepers will be treated with creosote or such===>pain
cheers LLL

Well it turns out its natural untreated oak so it is in fact the natural tannin in the wood. All the recent rain is washing it out of the timber but it is getting rinsed slowly away now thank goodness! Bit of a worry there for a while though!
