what kind of drill would you use to drill holes for spotlights in indian sandstone

Recessed lamps, set into the flags, yeah?

Having never drilled into I.S - but I'd probably drill a pilot hole centrally then use a core drill to make the large hole.

Probably wise to try out on a bit of waste to start with.

Dave's right: pilot hole then a core drill, which you'll probably have to hire.

....and don't rush it. Try it out on a bit of waste first.

i had to hire a 250mm dia diamond core cutter for some fancy german paving lights and it was bleedin expensive,£150 a day and £50 a mm for wear on the core,it was all set on like a big pillar attachment, very very slow even with water

Have you ever noticed that, even if you've only made one cut, there's always 3mm of wear on a diamond blade when you return it to the hire centre? Robbing abstrads!

well i expect a 250 core has about 400mm of diamond on it,its weird because the ts400 with a diamond blade wizzes through sandstone ,maybe it the difference in revs per minute
