First of all can I say what an excellent website. Found this by chance as I was planning a new patio and you've been an inspiration for me and I've learned loads -well enough to sound as if I know what I'm talking about.
Used your sugggested specs to the landscaper I'd chosen to lay my patio and she's followed the spec to the letter. One of her workers said to me they'd never seen such a proper comprehensive spec before and thought they were dealing with a professional so did the job even better than their normal standard.
Anyway, on to my question. We've had them lay 80m2 of Marshalls Haworth Moor slabs in Autumn Gold and and a 3 ring circle and I'm a bit disappointed in the circle Marshalls supplied. The slabs for the outer ring are all exactly the same colour and shade whereas everything else is slightly different shades and colours (which is what we want). So IMHO the outer ring looks a bit odd to say the least.
I can't blame the landscaper 'cos they laid the patio when the weather was less than perfect and the slabs were all a bit damp so they couldn't see the actual colours till the slabs had dried, but I wonder whether I could query this with Marshalls. To my untrained eye, the circle and the rectangular slabs look as if they've come from two different quarries and don't match at all. Do you have any suggestions? Could I expect Marshalls to do anything about this or are they likely to just tell me to foxtrot oscar?
And a second query, they're coming back Monday to finish laying the rest of the slabs and do the pointing. What colour pointing would you recommend with these slabs?
Many thanks
ColinM

Thanks for the info chaps, we went with the natural colour for the mortar, so will see how it goes over time. They got the pointing done Monday but I'm abroad till next Thurs so will see how it looks when i get home again. Will give the sloabs a few months to see if they weather down, but I've made the landscaper aware of our dissapointment and they're going to mention it to Marshalls. Will see how it all looks after the summer.
And LLL, no not a Cheslki fan, it's the Yids for me so I support any team that beats the Arseholes.
