Have just had patio laid with black Indian limestone paving (420x420). The surfaces were filthy and have cleaned them up with high pressure hosing. However there is quite a lot of variation from slab to slab - different shades, blemishes, stains etc.
Can any recommend the best way of getting a consistent look on all slabs - is there a treatment or sealant that might help?
All advice very gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Errr... that's the beauty of natural stone: the variation.

If you wanted a product with consistent colour, texture, surface appearamnce, etc., you should have chosen a concrete flag.

Er no, that's not what I meant - obviously I am not expect uniformity. Some of the stones have white scratches by being poorly packaged, and some have coloured stains on the surface - I would like advice on if it is possible to remove these but if condescension is all that's on offer then will ask elsewhere.

What's the diff between the "consistency" you required in your first post, and the "uniformity" you don't expect in your FU?

You originally asked for consistency, which is not something you get with imported limestone flags. You never mentioned scratch marks.

If you interpret my answer as condescending, then you're being precious. I can't see the flags, so I answer based on what I'm told.

sadly mr.crowe you gets, what you pays for.
we have had many debates on this forum about indian stone in general, and the general concensus is that the quality has dropped through the floor as every del boy and chancer has started importing it
the people you need to ask first are the builder, then the suppliers
what ever you do, do not use acid to try and clean them,it will discolour them even more
have a look on the main site for info on sealants but same with these, you gets, what you pays for.
